Ubuntu works on older hardware ( a fake story)
Linux users keep on criticizing Windows about how crappy the os is. We keep on hearing how Linux worked on rj45 sized device, booted on 2 seconds blah, blah. Some people migrated to Linux not just because of viruses, but were furious why their pcs bought in 2006 did not work with vista. They were so egoistic that they wanted to show their vista friends, how their so called old hardware can play greater visual stuffs than vista(compiz). I was too happy even mine did not run Vista. Now with Ubuntu 8.10 my so called old and unpowerful (2.4G, 2GB Ram, 120G Harddisk, and integrated 845G chipset, branded hp7500) does not run compiz, does not connect my Nokia 5310, does not let me choose my resolution. There are many users who still run this hardware. If ubuntu keeps on doing this it may add some users but will keep on losing users like me. I still see many hardware vendors selling those old intel hardware.
